Migration & modernisation

We move applications and data to the cloud in planned waves, modernising where it pays and rehosting where it does not.

Lift-and-shift is rarely the whole answer, and full rebuilds are rarely affordable. We choose the right path for each workload, then migrate with rehearsed cutovers so the business barely notices.

When to call us. Signs it’s time for this work.

  • A data centre contract, hardware refresh or licence renewal is approaching.
  • Core applications run on unsupported operating systems or databases.
  • Previous migration attempts slipped, overran or were rolled back.
  • Releases are slow because legacy systems resist every change.

What’s included. Scoped to your context, delivered end to end.

  1. 01

    Migration factory

A repeatable process, toolset and team that moves workloads in waves with consistent testing, sign-off and documentation.

  2. 02

    Application modernisation

Refactoring, containerising or replatforming applications where the gain in agility or cost justifies the effort.

  3. 03

    Data and database migration

Moving databases and file stores with validated integrity, minimal downtime and a tested rollback path.

  4. 04

    Cutover and hypercare

Rehearsed go-live plans, clear communication to the business and close support in the weeks after each wave.

How we work. Four phases, with value at every step.

  1. 1

    2–4 weeks

    Assess

Map dependencies, classify each workload and confirm the migration path, effort and risk for every wave.

  2. 2

    3–4 weeks

    Pilot

Migrate a small, representative set of workloads to prove the tooling, runbooks and landing zone.

  3. 3

    4–8 weeks per wave

    Migrate

Move workloads wave by wave, measuring performance and cost against the baseline after each cutover.

  4. 4

    2–4 weeks

    Decommission

Retire old servers, licences and contracts so the savings are real rather than theoretical.

What you walk away with

  • Dependency map and wave plan
  • Per-application migration runbooks
  • Cutover and rollback plans
  • Modernisation backlog
  • Decommissioning register

What changes

  • Legacy risk removed without disrupting daily operations.
  • Applications that are easier and faster to change.
  • Old infrastructure costs genuinely switched off.

Common questions.

Should we rehost everything first and modernise later?

Sometimes. Rehosting is fast and suits stable systems facing a deadline. For applications that change often, modernising during the move usually avoids paying for migration twice.

How do you limit downtime?

We rehearse every cutover, replicate data ahead of time and agree a rollback trigger in advance. Most moves happen in planned windows agreed with business owners.

What happens to our existing IT team?

They work with us throughout. We pair on migrations, document every runbook and hand over progressively, so your team can run later waves with less support.
